Accident Investigations

The Importance of Investigating Employee Accidents At Work

If you are a safety officer, you understand the importance of investigating accidents or incidents thoroughly as soon as they occur. Investigating the cause of even minor accident will help identify the hazards so they can be eliminated thus helping to prevent a repeat occurrence. Investigations also help identify where a process is not working so it can be changed.

Accidents are directly correlated to workers’ compensation premiums. Investigations help reduce injuries and workers compensation costs. Workers who feel their employer cares about their wellbeing have improved morale and are subsequently more productive.

In this one-minute Risk Management video, Kevin Kilcoyne provides a brief overview of why accident investigations are so important.
